Dothan

Christine Odom Corbitt, a resident of Dothan, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 4, 2022 at her residence. She was 77 years old.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Gates of Heaven Cemetery with Dr. Charles Lewis officiating.

Christine was born November 19, 1944 to Juanita Crawford and Luther Odom. Christine was born in Dothan, Alabama. She fondly remembered a time when she lived on Short Atlanta as a youth.

Mrs. Corbitt graduated from Carver High School, Class of 1962. As a young woman she left Dothan to find work. She provided home cleaning services in California and New Jersey before moving back home to stay. She worked for some great people and enjoyed her life.

Christine later married Machroyce Corbitt, Sr. on January 12, 1970. From this union they had one child Mackroyce Corbitt, Jr. Although they only had one child, she loved children and her family. She helped raise her many nieces and nephews as if they were her own. She loved to travel and visit new places. She would often take trips to Florida, Georgia, New York, New Jersey, Bahamas, Caribbean, Mexico, and many other places.

Mrs. Corbitt worked with her husband Machroyce for many years. She also worked with her son for many years, helping him run the business and keeping things in order. Even after her husband passed, she kept the Janitorial business alive until she could no long do so after having a stroke that left her weak on one side.

Christine enjoyed life and people. She was truly the life of the party. She would keep good conversation in any situation and leave you laughing and smiling. She didn't play, but she loved hard and lived a wonderful life.

Christine was preceded in death by her mother, Juanita Odom; father, Luther Odom; sister, Lozene Odom Melvin; and her husband, Machroyce Corbitt, Sr.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her loving son Mackroyce Corbitt, Jr.; her daughter-in-law Nassandra Corbitt; grandchildren Mackroyce Corbitt, III, Micah Christopher Corbitt; her sister, Patricia Kelly; her brother, Kenneth Odom; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
