Kay (Bady) Fulghum

Kay Bady Fulghum, affectionately known as Kay, was born on May 3, 1954, in Macon, Georgia. She passed away peacefully on November 16, 2023, in Dothan, Alabama. Kay was a woman of faith, love, and selflessness, who dedicated her life to her family and serving others.

Kay was a proud graduate of Lanier High School, class of 1973. She continued her education at Georgia College, where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing in 1992. Her passion for helping others led her to a fulfilling career as a hospice nurse. Kay was not only a hard worker but a dedicated member of the Goodwater Freewill Baptist Church. Her commitment to her family was evident in her early years when she worked three jobs to provide for her children.

Kay's love for her family was unparalleled. She is survived by her daughters, Kelli Croft (Lori) and Kasey Beaty (Blake); her grandchildren, Averi Brinson, Peyton Brinson, Hannah Poole, Kody Fulghum, Kamryn Fulghum, Kole Fulghum, Kaselyn Beaty, Dylon Beaty (Haylee), Courtney Beaty; and great-grandchildren, Zoe, Aiden, Kalani, Libby, Ruby, Lillian. Kay also leaves behind her sister, Ann McDowell. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 36 years, Dan Fulghum; her parents, Charles and Edna Bady; her son, Klayton "Klay" Fulghum; and her sister, Nancy McBrearty.

Kay was a woman of many interests and passions. She had a deep love for animals, often fostering dogs in need. She was also a fan of scary movies, a trait she often shared with her grandchildren during movie nights. Her home was always immaculate, earning her the affectionate title of 'clean freak' among her loved ones. Kay had a fondness for pictures, often capturing precious moments with her family. She was also an advocate for her patients, always going above and beyond to ensure they received the best care.

Her favorite things were purple hearts, sunflowers, and Easter lilies, symbols of love, joy, and resurrection that perfectly encapsulated her spirit. Kay's faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and decisions. Nicknamed MacGyver, Kay was known for fixing anything that needed to be fixed with whatever items she had on hand. She was a beacon of love and selflessness, always putting others before herself. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those she touched with her kindness and compassion.

Kay Bady Fulghum was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Her life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and selflessness. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her memory will forever be cherished, and her spirit will continue to inspire those she left behind.

A celebration of Kay's life will be held at her house, 219 State Highway 103 Newton, AL, on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 1:00pm.
