Kermit Richardson, a resident of Dothan, passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2022 at his residence. He was 86 years old.
A celebration of his life will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, January 20, 2022 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Clark and Rev. Charles Goldsmith officiating. Burial will follow in Skipperville Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 5-7 pm.
Kermit was born on January 16, 1936 in Barbour County to Eddie Lee and Ilean Spears Richardson and moved to Dale County at an early age. He helped his father farm and was involved in construction work while attending school. Kermit became a truck driver, owning his own trucking firm for several years. He sold his trucking company and worked with other trucking firms; he was working with Andrews' Trucking Company at the time of his retirement in 2010 having worked a total of 54 years in the industry. Kermit was a huge Alabama football fan - Roll Tide Roll! His favorite quote was "WHATEVER"!
Kermit was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Oliver Richardson, Edward Richardson, his sisters, Iva Preston and Lela Fischer, his wives, Eula Richardson, and the mother of his children, Mary Roberts Richardson.
Survivors include his daughters, Marcelyn Chapman, Laverne R. Holland, and Mavis Barfield; his grandchildren, Nicole Holland (her fiancé, Stuart Alson), of Las Vegas, Neily Chapman, Cody Hurst, Nathan Brown, and Brittany Killingsworth; his great-grandchildren, Madison Pickett, Haylee Hughes, and Charlee Hurst; his sister, Linda Richardson Scott; his long-time friend, Larry Hammitt; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved cat, Daisy.
