Larry Richard White

December 26, 1958 — May 13, 2023

Enterprise

Larry Richard White, known to all as a man with a heart as big as his laugh, passed away on May 13, 2023, at the age of 64. Born on December 26, 1958, in Semoutiers, France at the Chaumont Air Force Base, Larry's life was a whirlwind of adventure, laughter, and love.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Jerry Ogles officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Larry was preceded in death by his father, Robert White, his son, Jackie Sheppard and dog, Nola. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Barbara Sheppard, along with his family, including his mother, Bernadette White of St. Johnsbury, VT; daughters, Amanda Ivan and Tabatha Sheppard; grandchildren, Lexi (Jordan) Coward, Cierra (Thomas) Riley, Gabe Ivan, Tristen Holloway (Jaaden Cole), and Ian Sheppard; great grandchildren, Madeline Riley, Lyla Riley, and Marlee Holloway; sisters, Linda Elliott of Brandon, FL and Laurie (George) Fenoff of St. Johnsbury, VT; nieces, Nicole (Dave) Ohmer of San Diego, CA, Melissa (Rich) Knicely of St Pete, FL, Michelle (Rob) Fenoff and their children, Brayden and Brooklyn of St. Johnsbury, VT, Kristen Fenoff and son, Landon Maskell of St. Johnsbury, VT; nephews, Eric (Andrea) Elliott and their children, Henry and Stella of St. Johnsbury, VT, and Michael Fenoff of St. Johnsbury, VT. Larry's father and son crossed the rainbow bridge before him, and we can only imagine the joyous reunion they must be having.

After graduating from Carroll High School in Ozark, Alabama in 1976, Larry went on to work jobs he loved, but one in particular was at the Wal-Mart Distribution Center, where he became known for his comedic antics and ability to brighten anyone's day. He had a knack for making even the most mundane tasks feel like an adventure, and his coworkers often found themselves laughing along with him as they went about their daily duties.

Larry's interests were as varied as the many hats he wore throughout his life. He was an avid golfer, animal lover, and trivia enthusiast. His passion for fishing was only matched by his love for his family and his willingness to go above and beyond for anyone in need. Larry's great sense of humor and infectious laughter could light up any room, and his selfless nature was a shining example for all who knew him.

An adventurous soul, Larry enjoyed exploring the great outdoors through hiking, running marathons, and traveling to new destinations. His love for nature was evident in the way he cared for his family's pets, including his dog, Prissy, and cat, Mr. Kitty. We're pretty sure he had a secret plan to turn his home into a zoo, but his family managed to keep him from adopting every stray animal he came across.

Larry's life was a testament to the power of laughter, love, and kindness. He was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back, even if it was his favorite one. His memory will live on through the countless lives he touched with his humor, generosity, and unwavering support.

In true Larry fashion, we imagine he'd want us to celebrate his life with laughter, stories, and a round of golf (or fishing, or trivia, or whatever makes you happy). So, let's raise a glass to Larry Richard White: a funny, adventurous, and selfless man who left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him. Cheers to a life well-lived and a legacy of love and laughter that will never be forgotten.
