Agnes East, a cherished soul who graced this earth with her presence, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2024, at the age of 92 in Dothan, AL. Born on February 6, 1932, in New York, Agnes lived a life marked by faith, love, and an unwavering commitment to her community.
Mrs. East was the widow of the late Douglas East, her husband of 61 years who died in 2018. They were avid golfers and longtime active members of the Dothan Country Club. She was a native of Binghamton, N.Y., and the daughter of the late Nancy M. Puglisi and Emanuel Puglisi. Mrs. East, a longtime beautician, was preceded in death by four siblings: Rose M. Puglisi, George W. Puglisi, John J. Puglisi, and Emanuel Puglisi.
She is survived by 11 nieces and nephews: Melany (Fred) Puglisi-Weening, Denise Puglisi, Carita Puglisi, Bill (Becky) Puglisi, John (Gigi) Puglisi, Anne Marie (Chuck) Johnston, Nancy Ann (John) Torris, Beth Ann (Tony) Rasch, and Paul (April) Puglisi. Also surviving are her grand nieces and nephews, Savanna Rasch, Ryan Weening, Lia Weening. Jennifer East niece, and Britt East, nephew. Also surviving are two brothers-in-law, Ray (Caroline) East and Jim East.
As we bid farewell to Agnes, we are comforted by the memories of her enduring spirit and the love she so freely gave. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held in her honor on Thursday, September 19, 2024, in the St. Columba Catholic Church Chapel at 2:00 pm. The service will provide an opportunity for those whose lives were touched by Agnes to gather, reflect, and celebrate a life truly well-lived. Following the mass, Agnes will be placed next to her husband in Sunset Memorial Park, where her legacy will continue to shine brightly for generations to come.
