Alexia (White) Griffin

June 24, 1961 — November 13, 2023

Blakely

Alexia Griffin, was born on June 24, 1961, in Port St. Joe, Florida, and passed away peacefully on November 13, 2023, in Dothan, Alabama, after a brief illness. She was a faith-filled, joyful, energetic, playful, selfless, and loving individual who spent her life nurturing those around her, making a lasting impact on everyone she met.

Alexia attended VSU and was a proud alumna of Wallace Community College, Dothan, where she pursued her passion for nurturing young minds by studying Early Childhood Development. After moving to Dothan in 1983, she worked diligently at Southern Bone and Joint for over 17 years, demonstrating her commitment and dedication to her profession. Later, she found her true calling working in Early Childhood Education, where she was adored by students and faculty alike.

Alexia's faith was a significant part of her life. She was an active member of the Midland City Baptist Church, along with many other churches where her husband served and after relocating to Blakely, Georgia in 2022, she continued her involvement in church activities. Her faith-filled presence was a beacon of light to those around her.

Along with being an avid Georgia Bulldog Fan, Alexia was a woman of many interests, with a particular love for spending time with her family. She cherished every moment with her sons, A. J. and Alex Griffin, and her grandchildren, C. J. and Rowan Griffin, who were the apples of her eye. Alexia's love extended beyond her immediate family to her sister, Vivian White (Ron) Reed, and her nieces, Harper (Caleb) Skinner, Rachel Reed, and Erin Reed; and very close friend, Glynn Floyd. Alexia also had a penchant for animals, and her beloved turtle Julie was a testament to that love.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Shirley White.

Alexia was a lover of the arts, particularly theater, and was known to enjoy a good play. She led an active lifestyle, always ready to participate in family events and gatherings. Her selflessness was evident in her actions and the love she had for those around her. As the great Helen Keller once said, "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart." Alexia lived these words, touching the hearts of those around her with her kindness and generosity.

Alexia was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jerry Griffin, who passed away in 2020. They shared a love that was evident to all who knew them, and the legacy they built together will live on in the hearts of their family and friends.

A graveside service to celebrate Alexia's life will be held at 3:00 pm CST (4:00 pm EST) on Friday, November 17, 2023, at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery in Midland City, Alabama, with Pastor Cory Thomas officiating. The family will receive friends at Sunset Funeral Home on Friday from 1-2:30 CST (2-3:30 pm EST).
