Alice Cantrell

Alice "June" Cantrell, 85, of Dothan, passed away Thursday, February 8, 2018 at her residence. Funeral services will be held 3 pm Sunday February 11, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Sunset Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 2-3 pm prior to the service. Mrs. Cantrell was born February 17, 1932 in South Bay, FL. She lived in South Bay most of her earlier years until she moved to Graceville, FL in 1954. Alice attended BBI and later moved to Fort Pierce, FL for a few years. In 1982, Alice moved to Dothan and worked at Flowers Hospital as a nurse until her retirement in 2002. She enjoyed working in her yard, growing flowers, spending time with her family, and especially her grandchildren. Mrs. Cantrell was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Cantrell; her parents, Lonnie and Josephine Ratley; her brothers, Jack Ratley and Billy Joe Ratley; her sisters, Ruth Dorsey, Frances Lashley, and Helen Hardy; her daughter-in-law, Ann Cantrell; and her son-in-law, Mike Hargrave. She is survived by her 3 sons, James William Cantrell, Lonnie Roy (Jenne) Cantrell, and David Allen Cantrell; her two daughters, Jan Hargrave and Mary Jo (Eddie) Cotter; her 9 grandchildren; her 14 great-grandchildren; and her sister Martha Jean William. Funeral services will be held 3 pm Sunday February 11, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Sunset Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 2-3 pm prior to the service.
