Alicia Deloris Cade

February 9, 1975 — July 24, 2020

Alicia Deloris Cade was born February 9, 1975 in Geneva, Alabama to Raymond Martinez and Mary Ann Shelnutt. She passed away peacefully Friday July 24, 2020, at Russellville Hospital in Russellville, Alabama. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Friday, July 31, 2020 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Alicia (known to her family as "Le Baby"), received her education at Geneva High School where she graduated with honors. After graduation, she fulfilled her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting. Her love and passion to assist the elderly led her to become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in Clarksville Tennessee where she lived for many years. A gifted musician, Alicia was fluent in piano, flute, clarinet, and saxophone sharing her musical talents for her school band and church. Determined to work, she got her first job working for Elmore's Gas Station in her hometown of Geneva, Alabama at the age of 14. Alicia married her high school sweetheart Derrick L. Hornsby. From this union, one son was born, Derrick L Hornsby Jr (DJ). She loved her son with all her heart and soul and would often say he was her inspiration to "keep going." At a young age, she gave her life to Christ and never looked back. She loved God with her whole heart and enjoyed working in various ministries. She served in many churches in various states, including Georgia, Hawaii, Tennessee, Florida, and Alabama. She worked alongside her mother at Ground Zero Ministries and King Jesus Church helping to feed the homeless and forgotten. Alicia was a faithful member of New Philadelphia E.P.C. and even when her health started declining, she still remained faithful to her church and could be found at every service sharing a smile, a funny story, and kindness to all that she encountered. Le Baby fought a good fight; she finished her race and she kept the faith. Her kind heart has touched so many people around the world and her spirit will live on forever. Alicia is survived by her father, Raymond Martinez (Tommie); mother Mary Ann Shelnutt; son Derrick Lamont Hornsby Jr; sisters Sandra Herrington, Lakenya (Joel) Trout; step-sisters Amanda Martinez, Olliesha Hamilton; nieces and nephew Hope Shiver, Faith Herrington, Graci Shiver, Freedom Herrington, Reginald "Rj" Myers; and a host of uncles, aunts, and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Friday, July 31, 2020 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
