Amelia Davila Stevens

April 13, 1932 — December 7, 2013

Amelia Davila Stevens, 81, of Dothan, passed away Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Wesley Manor after an extended illness.

A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 pm on Monday, December 16, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home with Robert Byrd directing.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Amelia was born April 13, 1932 in New York and was raised in Puerto Rico. She went back to New York after high school and graduated from New York University. She moved to Dothan in the early 70’s and began working at Helena Chemical Company where she worked until her retirement in 2005. She was a classical pianist and a ballet dancer. She loved music, dancing, but most of all she loved people. She never met a stranger and always found the good in everyone.

She was predeceased by her parents, Raymond and Victorina Davila; her brother Raymond Davila; a nephew, David Childress; and very special friends Gene Warnock and Michael Warnock.

Survivors include her son, Fred Faura Regina of Pensacola, FL; daughters, Jackie Potts Culpepper Todd Dothan and Melinda Miles Powell; a sister, Annie Childress David N. Wilkesboro, North Carolina; eight grandchildren, Victoria Hines Price Jared, Olivia Hines, Tyler Culpepper, Tanner South, Nathan South, Graham Powell, Alex Powell, and Harrison Powell; two nephews, Bobby Childress, N. Wilkesboro, NC and Jimmy Childress, San Antonio, TX; very special friends Maria Warnock, Gerald and Janice Benefield,  Virgil and Bobbie Mixon, and her extended family at Helena Chemical Company.

The family would like to thank the staff of Wesley Manor and Gentiva Hospice for their love and dedication shown to our Mom. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Wesley Manor or Gentiva Hospice.

Burial Date: January 1, 1970
