It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Anna Catherine Utz, on 23 February 2025 surrounded by her loving family after a beautifully lived life. Full of love, laughter, and resilience, she touched the lives of all who knew her.
She was born on 8 November 1936 in Baltimore City, Maryland and raised in Pasadena, Maryland. She met the love of her life, Ralph Utz, marrying him on 23 December 1955. With her husband in the Army, they moved a number of times before settling in Daleville, Alabama. She had made many friends over the years most notably the time she spent at the Daleville Senior Center. She really enjoyed her time there learning to quilt with Maxine Morrison. She also enjoyed her time with Louise Royal watching Pay per view WWE Wrestling. Her good friend Jane Hawthorne, would take her to Dothan and Montgomery to play slots, which she loved! Anna decided in October 2022, to move to Felton, Delaware to be with her family. She loved living with and spending time with them and her daughter-in-law’s extended family,who all loved her. She had so much fun with her family and friends, Jim and Debbie Quinn on her many vacations traveling to New Mexico, Dominican Republic, Jamaica and cruising on Carnival. She joined the Frederica Senior Center making many friends, truly loving her time spent there. She had fun playing bingo there and at the Camden Wyoming Fire Company on Tuesday nights, watching her WWE wrestling and going to dinner and the slots with her son and daughter-in-law. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, her parents, Max and Annabell, her children, Edward, David and Dessie Lynn. She is survived by her son, Dennis and his wife, Lynn of Felton, DE, their children, Laura and her husband Jerry, Bryan, grandchildren Dylan, Justin, Harper, Hailey, Kirsten, Olivia, Liam and Lucas. She is also survived by her nieces and nephew, Jessie Mae, who she loved as her own daughter, Annabell, Edward, Jennifer, their families along with members of her husband’s family.
Viewing will be held on 1 March 2025 from 11-12:30 pm with the service immediately following at the Funeral Home of Michael J. Ambruso, 1175 S. Street, Dover. Burial will be held at a later date at the Baltimore National Cemetery
