Anne Urban

November 23, 1920 — July 3, 2013

Anne Smith Urban, 92, a resident of Columbia passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at her residence.

A Celebration of her life will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, July 20, 2013 at the First Baptist Church of Columbia with Rev. Randall Johnson officiating and Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist church of Columbia, 200 N. Main St., Columbia, AL, 36319.

Mrs. Urban was born November 23, 1920 in Columbia and she resided there all of her life. She graduated from Houston County High School and later received her Licensed Practical Nursing Degree from Wallace Community College in the early 1960’s where she was employed as an Assistant Instructor for several years. Mrs. Urban was employed with Southeast Alabama Medical Center until 1968, and later worked with Herndon Oil Company. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Columbia, the Order of the Eastern Star, Daughters of the American Revolution, United Daughters of the Confederacy, and Colonial Dames.

Mrs. Urban was preceded in death by her husband Wilmer A. Smith and her parents Dr. and Mrs. C.C. McEntyre, her brothers, Erle McEntyre and Thad McEntyre.

Survivors include her 2 sons, Clinton A. Peggy Smith and Andy Wanda Smith; her 5 grandchildren, Scott Smith, Lee Martha Smith, Stacy Mike Mercurio, Annie Smith, and Wade Audrey Smith; her 4 great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Edna Walter; and by her nephews, Clint McEntyre, John Golden, Paul Golden, and Roger Acree.
