Arnold Floyd Edwards

September 22, 1950 — June 11, 2019

Arnold Floyd Edwards, a resident of Dothan, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2019. He was 68. A celebration of his life will be held at 11 am on Friday, June 14, 2019 at Pine Hill Free Will Baptist Church with Darren Henry officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. The family will receive family and friends at the church on Friday one-hour prior to the service. Mr. Edwards was born on September 22, 1950 in Dothan to the late Willie and Carolyn Edwards and lived here all his life. He began working with Couch Construction with his father at an early age. Over his 50 plus years in the construction business, Mr. Edwards would work with D and E Constrution and with Wiregrass Construction until his retirement. When he wasn't working, he was playing the bass in his band with friends he made along the way. In the early 70's, his band was chosen to be the back-up band for Kenny Rogers. He enjoyed playing pool with friends, fishing, and bird hunting. In his later years, Mr. Edwards enjoyed golfing. He was a former member of the Dothan Elks Lodge and a current member of VFW Auxiliary 3073. Mr. Edwards was loved dearly by his family and friends and will be missed by all. He was preceded in death by his wife, Neda Edwards; one brother, David Edwards; and one sister, Clara Maddox. Survivors include his four children, Scott Edwards (Sherry), Wendy Burkett (Rusty), Matthew Edwards (Hope) and Ryan Edwards (Becca); seven grandchildren, Austin Floyd, Alex Floyd, Ree Burkett, Schylur Edwards, M.J. Edwards, Teagan Edwards, and Flynn Edwards; four great- grandchildren, Paizlee Burkett, Brooke-Lynne Burkett, Ryland Burkett, and Alyvia Floyd; five sisters, Faye Havel (Jerry), Connie Nieciecki (Peter), Barbara Rich, Shirley Porter, and Joan Fazio; one special cousin and friend, Rodney Walden; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
