Arthur R Anderson

July 20, 1938 — August 6, 2016

Arthur R. “Andy” Anderson, a resident of the Pisgah community near Echo of Dale County went to be with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ on Saturday, August 6, 2016. His early pilgrimage was 78 years.

Homegoing services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at Grace Baptist Church in Ozark with Pastor Douglas Crosby officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park in Midland City. The family will receive friends from 1-2:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

Andy began this life’s journey on July 20, 1938 in Worcester, MA where he would spend his first 17 years before entering the United States Air Force. He served his country with distinction for over 20 years before retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant. He was a Vietnam Veteran and his military decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal w/ oak leaf cluster, and the Vietnam Service Medal with four battle stars. Following his military service, he began a career with GTE with job assignments in Durham, NC, Moultrie, GA, and Dothan, AL. He retired from GTE in 1993. Andy was an active member of Grace Baptist Church in Ozark where he loved his church family. He also loved to preach whenever opportunities arose.

Andy was preceded in death by his faithful and loving wife of over 55 happy years, Sarah Elizabeth Anderson, his son Raymond Carl Anderson, II, and his sister Carol Vokes.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Darlene Anderson; his daughter, Melinda Ann Arthur Flynn; his sons, Chris Diana Anderson of Watkinsville, GA and Mark Henry Jen Anderson of Durango, CO; his sisters, Marilyn Foisy and Susan Anderson both of CA; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Andy wished to leave this message to all the family and friends he has left behind, “If you have been born again, Sarah and I will meet you in the morning, just inside the Eastern Gate.”

Burial Date: January 1, 1970
