Ava Sue Rogers Mitchell

Ava Sue Rogers Mitchell, 94, of Dothan died Thursday, February 10, 2011 at a local hospital.

Services will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday at First Baptist Church with Dr. Johnny Fain officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 2-3 pm prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation, P.O. Box 45, Audubon Station, New York, NY, 10032, First Baptist Church of Dothan Missions Fund, 300 W. Main St., Dothan, AL, 36303, or Faith Radio 90.3, P.O. Box 210789, Montgomery, AL, 36121.Mrs. Mitchell was born December 16, 1916 in Coosa County, AL and lived the early part of her life in Goodwater and she owned and operated a beauty salon Ashland, AL. She resided over 50 years in Lineville, AL. Mrs. Mitchell was a creative writer and enjoyed writing poetry. She was a dedicated homemaker, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a member of the Lineville Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, and served as president of WMU. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years Everette Mitchell. Survivors include her daughter Janet Martin and her husband Gary of Dothan; a son Len Mitchell and his wife Janet of Armonk, NY; grandchildren, Michele Armstrong and her husband Dale of Dothan, Tamala Prickett and her husband Daniel of Mobile, AL, Jason Brogden of Ozark, AL, Daniel Mitchell and Kelly Mitchell of Armonk, NY; great-grandchildren, Cullen, Mitchell, Chadwick and Ava Grace Armstrong all of Dothan, Evelyn, Claire and Murray Prickett of Mobile; a brother Charles Harlin Rogers and his wife Mary of Pensacola, FL; several nieces and nephews.Serving as active pallbearers will be Jason Brogden, Daniel Mitchell, Dale Armstrong, and Daniel Prickett. Burial Date: January 1, 1970
