Barbara Alexander

Barbara Alexander, formerly of Dothan passed away on Friday, November 20, 2009 at Palm Garden Nursing Home, in Tampa Florida. She was 78.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Flowers are being accepted or memorial donations may be made to Life Path Hospice, 12973 N. Telecom Pkwy., Suite 100, Temple Terrace, FL, 33637.Mrs. Alexander was born on April 22, 1931 in Houston County and resided in Dothan most of her life. She was a 1953 graduate of Dothan High School and was a homemaker and avid gardener. She has resided in Tampa since 2003. Mrs. Alexander was preceded in death by her first husband, John E. Whiddon and her son, Gordy Whiddon. Survivors include her daughters, Johnnie B. Pheneger, and her husband, Scott, Zelda F. Marlowe and her husband, Don; a granddaughter Kimberly D. Marlowe; great-grandchildren, Kaila, Xavier, Faith; a brother David Alexander and his wife Charlotte; a sister-in-law Nancy Alexander; an aunt Mavis Skipper.Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Alexander, Todd Alexander, Tony Trammell, Scott Pheneger, and Jeff Coleman. Burial Date: January 1, 1970
