Barbara Ann Blackmon

Barbara Ann Blackmon, a resident of Dothan, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at a local hospital.  She was 73.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, September 15, 2015 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Curtis Rich officiating.  Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10-11:00 am.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 3054 McGehee Rd., Montgomery, AL  36111.

Mrs. Blackmon was born on September 12, 1942 in Henry County and lived in Napier Field the early years of her life.  She was the Salutatorian for the 1960 graduating class of Midland City High School.  Barbara married Billy Blackmon in 1959 and they resided in Dothan for the past 58 years.  She was a homemaker and a member of Napier Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Billy Blackmon; her son, David Blackmon; her grandson, Luke Blackmon; her brother, Steve Rhonda Peterson; her brothers-in-law, Carl Ann Blackmon, Joe Blackmon, and Jim Blackmon; her special friends, Collin Smith and Sandra Griffin.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Carl Blackmon, Joe Blackmon, Jim Blackmon and Collin Smith.
