Barbara R. Blumenfeld

Barbara R. Blumenfeld, 61, of Dothan passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at her residence.

Funeral services will be 3 pm Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Temple Emanu-El with Rabbi Lynne Goldsmith officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Temple Emanu-El, 188 N. Park Avenue, Dothan, AL, 36303.  The family requests that those in attendance at the service wear bright colors in celebration of her life and spirit.

Mrs. Blumenfeld was born October 28, 1951 in Adel, GA and was a 1969 graduate of Cook County High School. She was a 1973 graduate of UGA, but make no mistake she was a Crimson Tide fan and also loved the Atlanta Braves. She married Jack in 1974 and they moved to Dothan from Montgomery and she resided here for the past 36 years. Barbara was a member of Temple Emanu-El, past president of Sisterhood and Hadassah, member of the Dothan Service League, the Red Hat Society and P.E.O. She was preceded in death by her parents Melvin and Faye Rainbow, and a sister Sharon Elstein. Barbara was always the first to give to those in need and always the first in line to celebrate a happy occasion.

Survivors include her husband Jack Blumenfeld of Dothan; her daughters, Anna Marcia Blumenfeld fiancé Nadav Herman of New York and Rebecca Rainbow Blumenfeld of Birmingham; a sister Carol Howard Lazarus of Austin, TX; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Rick and Joan Blumenfeld of Atlanta, GA, Bill and Sandy Glassman of St. Louis, MO, and David and Debbie Moskowitz of Atlanta, GA; nieces and nephews, Melissa David Kantrovitz, Jill Josh Cohen, Dennis Blumenfeld, Amy Roger Bledsoe, Daniel Moskowitz, Jake Moskowitz, Dana Lazarus, Becky Lazarus, Nathan Elstein, and Jacob Leah Elstein; numerous cousins; her loving canine companion Davy Rainbow.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Howard Lazarus, David Moskowitz, Leon Minsky, Kerry Schwartz, Rick Blumenfeld, Fred Arieux, and Joel Ramsey.
