Barbara Ann Elliott

August 28, 1942 — August 24, 2024

Barbara Ann "Bobbie" Elliott, a beacon of love and adventure, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2024, in Dothan, AL, just shy of her 82nd birthday. Born on August 28, 1942, in Carthage, Missouri, Bobbie was a spirited soul who brought joy and kindness to everyone she encountered.

Bobbie's early life in Carthage, Missouri laid a strong foundation for her passion for education. She attended local schools and was known for her bright mind and eager participation in class. Her pursuit of knowledge led her to Troy University, where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education, a testament to her dedication to learning and teaching.

For many years, Bobbie shaped the lives of countless young minds as a beloved first-grade teacher at Girard Elementary School. Her gentle guidance and unwavering patience left an indelible mark on her students, many of whom carried her lessons throughout their lives. Bobbie's colleagues remember her as a pillar of the educational community, always ready to lend a hand or share a word of encouragement.

Outside the classroom, Bobbie's adventurous spirit shone brightly. She was an avid horse rider, often found galloping through the countryside, her laughter mingling with the wind. The beach was another of her sanctuaries, with Dauphin Island holding a special place in her heart. There, she would walk along the shore, collecting seashells and basking in the warmth of the sun.

Bobbie's sense of adventure extended beyond the borders of the United States. Alongside her beloved husband, James Clyde Elliott, who was a skilled helicopter instructor, she traveled the world. Together, they explored new cultures, cuisines, and landscapes, creating a tapestry of memories that Bobbie would cherish and recount with sparkling eyes.

Family was the cornerstone of Bobbie's world. She is survived by her adoring daughter, Tracy Allen, her cherished grandchildren, Marc Christopher Allen, Jr. (Wife: Brittany Baird), Bree Anna Allen, Jada Allen, Troy Alexander Dawson, and her great grandchildren, Marc Christopher Allen III, Aubriella Penelope Allen, Cora Nichole Patton, and Evan Paxton Allen. Bobbie's role as a grandmother was one she embraced with all her heart, spending countless hours imparting wisdom, sharing stories, and indulging in the simple joys of life with her grandchildren.

Bobbie was preceded in death by her husband, James Clyde Elliott, who was her partner in every adventure and her rock in times of need. She was also predeceased by her father, Delbert Whisner, and her mother, Doris Uber, both of whom instilled in her the values of love and kindness that she carried throughout her life.
