Barbara Ann (Pate) Meads

Barbara Ann Meads, a resident of Cowarts, passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at a local hospital. She was 74 years young.

A celebration of her life will be held at 2 pm on Friday, January 13, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Eric Norris officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 1-2 pm.

Barbara was born on November 5, 1948 in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Howard and Flossie Abernathy Pate. She met and married the love of her life, Ervin Tucker Meads in 1968. Barbara was employed with the City of Dothan as a service writer for more than 33 years. Barbara enjoyed Saturday afternoon football, and was an avid Alabama Football Fan! She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all who knew and loved her.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Flossie Pate, by her daughter, Angela Burge, and by her siblings, Violet Fortner, Buddy Pate, Bernard Pate, Johnny Pate, and Paul Pate.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Ervin Meads; her daughters, Monica Butler and Tanya (Jimmy) Appling; her four grandchildren, Matthew Meads, Kimberly Mims, Kaylan Butler, and Raylee Appling; her four great grandchildren, Allysia Meads, Kathrine Meads, Camrin Mims, and Jade Meads; her sister, Sharon Drake; and her special K-9 companion, Pepper.
