Barbara Ann Tew

December 28, 1942 — May 20, 2017

Barbara Ann Walker Tew, a resident of Midland City passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2017. She was 74 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 22, 2017 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Goldsmith officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Tew was born December 28, 1942 in Houston County, AL to the late Johnnie Milton Walker and Bessie Enfinger Merritt and lived in Dothan the early part of her life. She was employed with Sav-A-Minute Convenience Stores prior to working at General Cigar for several years. Later she worked with Leon's Restaurant and Big-Little Convenience Stores where she retired in 2013. She enjoyed watching her Soap Operas and wrestling, and working Word Puzzles.

Survivors include her daughters, Amy Thompson (Keith Carmichael) and Stacie (David) Duke; grandchildren, Alexis Metcalf (Chris Newton), Christopher Butler (Ashley Brooks), Jacob Carmichael, Kelsey (Matt) Prichard, Luke Carmichael, and Taylor Butler (Chance Hall); great-grandchildren, Abbi Newton, Holden Newton, Ryan Butler, and Elliott Butler; siblings, Marvin Kelly (Beckie Donaldson), Nolan (Martha) Harrell, Bobby (Dianne) Sailors, and Janice (James) Tharp; numerous nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Butler, Chris Newton, Marvin Kelly, David Duke, Bruce Duke, and Keith Carmichael.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Barbara's special caregivers, Bruce Duke, Anita Duke, and the entire team of Kindred Spirit Hospice.
