Barbara Green Walding

Barbara Green Walding, a resident of Midland City, died Sunday afternoon, August 20, 2017 at Flowers Hospital following a brief illness. She was 72.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at the Midland City United Methodist Church with Rev. Ray and Diane Kelley officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. Flowers are being accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Midland City United Methodist Church, PO Box 376, Midland City, AL 36350.

Barbara was born in Dothan, Alabama on February 20, 1945. She was the oldest of five children of O. D. and Evelyn Green. In 1961, Barbara married Mikie Walding, Sr. and together they formed the business we know today as Mikie Walding Construction Company. Barbara worked along with her husband every day and continued working up until her recent illness.

Survivors include her two sons, Mikie Walding, Jr and his wife, Janet and Mark Walding and his wife, Kim; her grandchildren, Micheal Walding, Halie Walding, Mason Walding, Kaila Carnahan, Kacie Walding Thornton, Ryder Thornton, and Maegan Walding; her three great-grandchildren; her sister, Gail Green Stephens; her brother, Randy Green and his wife Lisa; sisters-in-law, Linda Walding Parker and Dorothy Walding; her brother-in-law, Kenny Walding and his wife, Judy; several nieces, nephews and her beloved pet, Saban.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Mikie Walding Sr., along with her parents, O. D. and Evelyn Green, her two sisters, Carolyn Green Sullivan and Frankie Green Parker, as well as her brother-in-law, Joe Walding.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Micheal Walding, Mason Walding, Kevin Walding, Jeff Walding, Ryder Thornton, and Ben Johnson.
