Benjamin F. Stringer Jr.

Benjamin Franklin Stringer, Jr. a resident of Dothan, died Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. He was 72.

Funeral services will be held 10 am Saturday, February 20, 2010 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Jim McNemar officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 until 7 Friday evening.Mr. Stringer was born June 26, 1937 in Barbour County and he resided in Clayton for 40 years. He was a graduate of Alabama State in Montgomery with a Bachelor of Science and Masters degree in education. Mr. Stringer was employed with Barbour County Board of Education as an instructor and the Alabama Education Association as Uni-Serv director prior to his retirement. He had resided in Dothan for the past twenty-five years. Mr. Stringer was dedicated and Baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on September 20, 2003 where he remained faithful until his death and he served as an elder in the East Congregation. Mr. Stringer was a member of Kappa Alpha Phi Fraternity. Survivors include his wife, Catherine Stringer, Dothan; his biological son, Eric Stinger and his wife, Samantha, Rochester, NY; three other sons, Chris Grubbs and his wife, Jackie, Dothan, Craig Courthan Grubbs and his wife, Terri, Bronx, NY, and Douglas Grubbs, Dothan; two biological grandchildren, Angelica Stringer and Eric Stringer, eleven other grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Hussein, Dothan and Jessie Doug Erving, Williamsburg, VA; a host of, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Burial Date: January 1, 1970
