Benjamyn Alvis Watson, a resident of Newton, passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at his residence. He was 43 years old.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at Newton First Assembly of God Church with Pastor Marlin Miles officiating. Burial will follow in Newton City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Sunset Funeral Home on Friday evening from 5-7 pm.

Benjamyn was born on August 8, 1978 in Dale County and resided in Newton all of his life. He was a 1996 Dale County High School graduate and would begin his working career with Brown Manufacturing Company. He would work as an aircraft mechanic at Pemco and AFS for a total of 20 years. Benjamyn has worked with the Northside Walmart for the past 6 years. He enjoyed working with his father on the farm raising cattle and vegetables. Benjamyn was very talented with his hands and could make anything he set his mind to. He was a gentle soul who loved helping people and giving away vegetables from his garden. He was a member of Newton First Assembly of God Church. Benjamyn will forever be missed and will always be remembered for saying "Deuces, I'm Out"!

Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Jessica Watson; his daughter, Alexsus Watson; his parents, Billy Gene and Mary Watson; his sisters, Gean (James) Taylor and Dana (Bill) Mansfield; his mother-in-law, Valerie Grooms; and several nieces and nephews.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Madison Taylor, Jimmy Keen, Jonathan Ward, Beau Quebec, Bill Mansfield, and Dalton Mansfield.
