Bentley Jacob Childress, known affectionately as Bent Bent, has left us, but not without leaving his indelible mark of joy, laughter, and love on this world. Born on November 10, 2014, in Dothan, Alabama, Bentley took his last bow on October 26, 2023, in the very same town that had witnessed his grand entrance.

Bentley was the beloved son of Leslie Mills and Jesse Childress. He was the cherished brother of Michael Barr, Cody Childress, and Mackenzie Mills. He was also the light in the lives of his grandparents Sherri McSwain (James Chandler), Tammy Dajarnett, Edward Gore, and his great-grandparents Eddie (Becky) Dole, Mary-Lou Holloman, and Mary Smith. He leaves behind his special aunts, Jamie Smedley (Bobby Leach), Nikki (David) Pollard, Jayme Chandler (Jordan Glass), and Kayce Chandler. He was also well loved by his great aunts, Terri (Alan) Sims and Lynn (Kelly) Dodd, and several cousins. He is predeceased by his brother, who held a special place in his heart, Conner Napper, and his beloved aunt Savannah McSwain. A standing ovation is due to Bentley's bus drivers, Greg and Penny, and all the kids on the bus who made his rides so enjoyable.

Bentley was a proud third grader at Rehobeth, where his teachers, bus drivers, and aides adored him. Bentley's love for education was only matched by his love for life and the many interests that brought him joy. Bentley had a love for the simple pleasures in life, like lights, phones, and sitting on the back porch. He also had a quirky sense of style, often seen with a bucket on his head, which he wore like a crown. His sense of humor could light up a room, and his laughter was infectious. Bentley was indeed a true ray of sunshine.

He was also a food enthusiast, who loved nothing more than helping others finish their meals. His love for culinary delights was only surpassed by his love for his family, the great outdoors, and his siblings. Bentley was a smart cookie who knew some sign language and had a knack for making everyone around him smile. Bentley loved nothing more than going for rides in his PePaw's truck, playing with the windows as they drove around town. Bentley's mom was his favorite caregiver, always cuddling, giving kisses, and sharing a love only a mom and son can have. His "Da" Steven held a special place in his heart, and their bond was a testament to Bentley's capacity for love and friendship.

Bentley Jacob Childress, our beloved little boy, has left us too soon. But his laughter, his joy, and his love will forever echo in our hearts. Here's to Bentley, who taught us to find joy in the simple things, laughter in the absurd, and love in every moment. You will be missed, Bentley, but your legacy of laughter and love will live on.

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at 2pm in the Sunset Chapel. The family will be accepting friends the night before, November 1, 2023, from 5-7pm in the Sunset Chapel. He will be laid to rest next to his brother, Conner, in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
