Betty Joyce Benton

Betty Joyce Benton, a resident of Dothan, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2019. She was 88. Mrs. Benton was born on October 8, 1930 in Enterprise, AL and lived there the early years of her life. She was an elementary school teacher at Ft. Rucker and later became a social worker. Mrs. Benton was employed with the State of Alabama - Pensions and Security for over 20 years until her retirement. She loved to crochet baby blankets as Christmas gifts for family and friends. She also had a great love for cats, at one time having over 30 cats to love and care for. Mrs. Benton was a member of Rainbow Meadows Church. Survivors include her sons, Barry Hetrick and William (Linda) Hetrick; her daughter, Maggie Hughes; her 4 grandchildren, Wayne Hughes, Jessica Pair, Jasper Hetrick, Christopher Hetrick, Kellie Jackson, and Karen Redmond; her great-grandchildren, Zach Jackson, Ryan Jackson, Xander Hetrick, Evan Ortagus, Collin Pair, Rachel Pair, Alayna Redmond, and Paige Redmond; and several nieces and nephews.
