Betty Jo Reese Berry

Betty Jo Reese Berry was born September 20, 1940, in Blakely, GA and she departed on February 1, 2011 at her home in Dothan.

Funeral services will be held 1 pm Friday Feb. 4, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Thursday at the funeral home.Mrs. Berry finished Ashford Colored High School before continuing her education at Alabama State University where she graduated in 1964. She furthered her education and completed a Masters degree at the University of Michigan.A nurturing and caring individual, she started a life fulfilling dream of giving back where she taught and counseled children that she greatly admired. She started her teaching career in Montgomery County Alabama and continued until her retirement in 2001 in the Detroit Public Schools where she was a devoted counselor. After retiring from education, she relocated back to Dothan so that she could be closer to her family.Betty met and married Robert Bernard Berry in 1969 who preceded her in death.Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Roger and Zula Reese, a sister, Bernice Minton and a brother, Clyde Reese.She leaves to cherish her memory five sisters, Eula Carlos Jones, Annette Roy Ware, Clara Reese, Gloria Luther Key, and Gladys Amos Johnson; three brothers, Frank Rece Reese, Wallace Jo Ann Reese, and Roger La Velda Reese; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
