Betty June Johnson of Dothan, Alabama passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on Sunday, November 3, 2019. She was 87. June's graveside service will be held 1pm Friday November 8, 2019 at Sunset Memorial Park. June was born on June 23, 1932 in Piedmont, Alabama to the late Samuel and Emma Upton. She attended Piedmont High School, class of 1950 where she was head majorette and homecoming queen. She was married to her husband, CW4 Paul Johnson, and lived and traveled to various places while he served in the US Army. While living in Ozark, Alabama, June was employed at Ft. Rucker with the JAG office and worked in Civil Service for more than 20 years. She moved to Dothan following the death of her husband in 1996 and was a volunteer at Flowers Hospital. June was a member of Covenant United Methodist Church in Dothan. June was known for being very happy, smart and energetic person who loved to read. She loved to cook and looked forward to Taco Tuesday's with her family. She walked nearly every day with her puppy Mr. Darcey. She was also known for having a green thumb and loved to grow flowers in her backyard garden. She is survived by her children, Denise Johnson, Connie Johnson Waterman, Mitzi Johnson Mathis, and David Johnson; her 7 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren, and a host of extended family and friends. Burial Date November 8, 2019 June's graveside service will be held 1pm Friday November 8, 2019 at Sunset Memorial Park.
