Betty Sue Jones

Betty Sue Jones of Dothan passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at a local hospital.

Funeral services will be held 11 am Friday, September 13, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Baxter officiating.  Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10-11am Friday and at other times at the home of Mrs. Jones. Flowers are being accepted or memorials may be made to The Harbor Church, P.O. Box 506, Dothan, Alabama 36302.

Mrs. Jones was born October 10, 1931 in Rocky Head, Alabama and moved to Dothan at an early age. She was employed with Southeast Alabama Gas District for several years. Mrs. Jones was a homemaker and a member of Denton Road United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Jones enjoyed people, “loafering,” and loved to travel with her late husband, especially to the beach.  She was a generous person and loved her grandchildren, family and neighbors.

Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Burl Jones; her infant twin sons; her grandson, Brandon Lee Scarbrough; her sisters, Jeanette Burger and Sara Rice; her parents, Claude Ziglar and Ocie Ziglar Crockett; and by her son-in-law, Jerry Bruce Scarbrough.

Survivors include her daughters,  Darlene J. Brantley and Diane J. Braun; her 3 grandchildren, Jennifer Robert Scarbrough-Miller, Jessica Tedder, and Jones Brantley Michael Enfinger; her 3 great-grandchildren, Trent Scarbrough, Carter Miller, and Wesleigh Stocker; her 2 sisters, Shirley Outlaw and Glenda Ziglar Carlson; her brother-in-law, Joe Rice; her special friend and caregiver, Sharon Britt; several nieces and nephews.

Burial Date: January 1, 1970
