Betty Lucia Daniel Kale

February 22, 1929 — August 21, 2013

Betty Lucia Daniel Kale, 84, formerly of Albany, Georgia and Dothan, Alabama passed away August 21, 2013 in Lakeland, Florida, following a short illness.

Funeral services will be 1pm Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lynn Nesbitt officiating.  Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 11:30 – 1pm Saturday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.

She was born Betty Lucia Daniel on February 22, 1929 in Macon, Georgia.  She graduated from Lanier High School where she was Valedictorian.  Betty married Jack William Kale on February 7, 1950.  After the birth of her two boys, she was a stay-at-home mom for their early years and later worked in various secretarial positions for an insurance company and the Shriners Temples in both Albany, Georgia and Jacksonville, Florida.  After her husband’s death in 1993, she moved to Dothan, Alabama where she lived for 19 years until 2012.  She worked as a receptionist for a local veterinarian and was a member of the 1st United Methodist Church where she worked as a volunteer for several years.  In June of 2012, she moved to Lakeland, Florida to live with her youngest son until her passing.

She was preceded in death by her parents Emory Allen Daniel and Lucia Williams Daniel, her husband Jack William Kale after 43 years of marriage, her brother Emory Allen Daniel Jr., and eldest son Jack William Kale Jr.  She is survived by her son Emory Daniel Kale; grand children Jack William Kale III, Kathryn Drew Kale, Jennifer Kale Swanepoel, and Natalie Lynn Kale; daughters-in-law Deborah Beecher Kale and Rhonda Knowles Kale; and 5 great- grandchildren.
