Bill Blount

William Madison Blount Jr. passed away at his home on March 12, 2017. Bill was born on May 9, 1934 in Dothan, AL and he resided there his entire life. He was a graduate of Dothan High School and Auburn University (API). Mr. Blount was the owner of Blount Office Supply for over 40 years. He was the president of the Dothan Rotary Club and was a recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow. Mr. Blount served on the Dothan Airport Authority and the Dothan Chamber of Commerce. He was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church and an active member of the Men’s Senior Sunday School class.

Mr. Blount was preceded in death by his parents William Madison Blount Sr. and Nora Mae Sims Blount, and an uncle A.B. Blount. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Charlotte Cannon Blount, a son Bill III and his wife Cindy, a son Steve, grandchildren Madison, William IV and Benton Blount, a sister Helen Newton and her husband Charles, and by his nephews Mark Culver, Lawrence Newton and William Newton.

The family is appreciative of the doctors, nurses and staff of the 4th floor North at Flowers Hospital.

The family will have a private burial service on the morning of Wednesday, March 15th. A visitation will be at 1:00 pm followed by a Celebration of Life service at 2:00 pm in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church.

Serving as pallbearers are Mark Culver, Laurence Newton, William Newton, Rutledge Crawford, Press Thornton III, King Thornton, Clay Howell and Clyde Howell. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Pete Barkley, Dr. Press Thornton, Mack Dove, Randy Church, Patrick Jones, Wayne Fowler, Andy Wood, Robert Holman, Dr. LaBruce Hanahan, Jake Jones, Dr. Milton Lennicx, Bob Whiddon, Dr. Edwin Morriss, Wallace Malone, Chuck Harris, Dr. Chris Byard, Dr. Neil Shelor, Dr. Bill McLaughlin and Dr. Jim Owen.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be given to The Ministry Project at First Baptist Church.
