Bobbie Benton

October 21, 1940 — September 1, 2014

On Monday, September 1, 2014, Bobbie Jeanine White Benton, of Newton AL, went home to be with the Lord.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1 pm Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Robert Byrd directing. Visitation will be immediately following the service.

Bobbie was born on October 21, 1940 in Early County, Georgia to William Leroy and Beatrice White. She spent most of her childhood in Blakely, Georgia and Lake Wales, Florida. She graduated salutatorian of her class from Early County High School in 1958. She graduated from Massey Business College in Albany, Georgia and her first job was with Felder & Sons Ford Dealership in Blakely, Georgia. Bobbie was excellent with math and was a bookkeeper/accountant all of her working life. She did accounting work for several different companies. Of those were Wainright Engineering, where she eventually became the personnel manager and BBG, Inc., where she did the accounting work for several different Taco Bell and KFC restaurants.

Bobbie's faith was great in the Lord, and she went to church all of her life until Parkinson's disease made it impossible for her to attend. She was a long-time member of Cloverdale Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years and after moving to Newton she became a member of Bethel Baptist Church of Newton, AL.

Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents William Leroy and Beatrice White. Survivors include her husband, best friend, and companion for 53 years Billy Jerome Benton; son Gregory J. Benton, daughter-in law Shannon Peel Benton, grandson and granddaughter Gregory Drew Benton and Mary Kathleen Benton; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Milton and Roxy White, Andrew and Phyllis White, Danny White, Dean and Emalee White, Mary Benton, Raymon and Betty Benton, Gerald and Jackie Benton, Phylis and Al Krack, Larry and Grace Benton, Bobby Benton, Jimmy and Brenda Benton; countless nieces and nephews.

Pall Bearers and Honorary Pall Bearers will be her nephews and great nephews.
