Bobby Jack Howell

Bobby Jack Howell, 74, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at his home in Midland City after a courageous battle with cancer. Mr. Howell was born on June 1, 1943 in Geneva County, Alabama to Relus Howell and Ruth Heath Howell.

An Enterprise, Alabama native, he graduated high school in Montgomery, Alabama and was an Air Force veteran having served during the Viet Nam Conflict. As an avid fisherman, he wrote numerous articles and columns for various publications and was known as “The Fishing Guy.” Bob was a talented brick mason having learned the trade from his father. He also worked as a deputy for the Houston County Sheriff Department. He was a member of College Avenue Church of Christ in Enterprise.

He was predeceased by his parents Ruth Howell and Relus Howell.

He is survived by his wife Gwendolyn Earnest Howell of Midland City; a daughter, Kecia Wilson and husband Seth of New Brockton; a son, Michael Sean Barnes and wife Kim of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee; a brother, Glen Howell and wife Linda of Ruskin, Florida; a sister, Glenda Heft and husband Allyn of High Springs, Florida; 5 grandchildren, Jordan Gilley, Hadden Gilley and Summer Gilley of Dothan, Hailey Wilson and Hannah Wilson of New Brockton; 2 brothers-in-law, Marvin Earnest and wife Birdie of Auburn, GA and John Earnest of Blakely, GA; special friends, Jane and Bob Burgett of Millbrook, Alabama.

A memorial service will be held at Sunset Memorial Park in Midland City on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. with Mr. Ronnie Gilley and Rev Allen Monarch officiating. Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to DaySpring Hospice, 201 West Lee St, Enterprise, AL, 36330.

The Howell family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Rafael Mayor, Dr. Thomas Brown, Dr. Hejal Patel and the staff of DaySpring Hospice.
