Bonnie Gail Kirkland, 55, of Madrid passed away Thursday, June 28, 2012 at a local hospital.
Funeral services will be 2 pm Sunday, July 1, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home with Pastor Stan Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 7-9 pm Saturday at the funeral home.
Bonnie was born September 20, 1956 in Quincy, FL to the late T.J. and Bernice Rogers. She spent the early part of her life in Dothan before moving to Rehobeth where she graduated from Rehobeth High School in 1974. She was a substitute teacher with Rehobeth High School for over 20 years. Bonnie was a member of New Beginning Church in Ashford where she served in the nursery and fulfilled her passion of cooking for others. Her grandchildren were her life and she was always looking for ways to spend more time with them. She was preceded in death by her parents, her father-in-law Alvin Kirkland, and a nephew Brock Sherrill.
Survivors include her husband Max Kirkland of Madrid; a daughter Kim Jason Jones of Rehobeth; a son Blake Hope Kirkland of Rehobeth; 4 grandchildren, Layne, Taylor, Cameron, and Addy; a brother Tommy Dody Rogers of Lafayette, GA; sisters, Opal Norman Watson of Ozark, Rachel Charles Watson of Dothan, Shelia Jerry Baxley Lynn of Fadette; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends also survive.
