Bonnie Smith Phillips, 87, of Dothan and formerly of Fayetteville, NC passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Extendicare Health and Rehab.
Graveside services will be 11am Thursday, January 2, 2014 at Ft. Bragg Post Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you "Pay it Forward" and bless someone else as they have felt blessed by the 87 exceptional years with their mother.
Ms. Phillips was born June 24, 1926 in Beaver Dam, NC and spent the early part of her life there and in Roseboro, NC. Her husband was in the U.S. Army and she spent several years traveling with him living in various locations around the world. Following his retirement they returned to Fayetteville, NC in 1958. She lived there until 1996 then relocated to Ozark and Dothan where she has lived since. She was a member of Southside Baptist church in Ozark. She was a homemaker and loved quilting and gardening.
Ms. Phillips was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Mamie Smith; her husband Clifton Ray Phillips; a daughter Vivian Phillips; 4 sisters and 2 brothers.
Survivors include her daughters, Denise Alan Hauenstein and Debbie Stanley; 4 grandchildren, Michael Nichols, Elizabeth Zaleski, Stephanie Samuel Emfinger, and Phillip Ray “Preston” Hauenstein; 2 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
