Boyd Fletcher Horn

Boyd Fletcher Horn died Saturday, May 17, 2014 at his residence in Dothan, AL. He was born in Greensboro, AL in 1937.

Mr. Horn graduated from the University of Alabama with a B.S. Degree in Business, where he was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity. He was also a graduate of the L.S.U. School of Banking in Baton Rouge, LA. He served in the Alabama National Guard for over 27 years and retired as a Colonel. In 1963, Boyd and Ruth Anderson Horn were married in Florence, Alabama. Boyd began his banking career in Tuscaloosa, AL with Regions Bank then known as City Nation Bank of Tuscaloosa and continued his association with Regions Bank for over 40 years. The Horns lived in Columbus, GA prior to moving to Dothan where he later retired as President and Chairman of the Board of Dothan Regions Bank.

While in Dothan, Boyd was active in the community, serving as a member of the Chamber of Commerce, holding the title of President the same year he was Chairman of the United Way. He was a long time member of the Dothan Rotary Club where he was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow. Boyd was a member of the Dothan Country Club and the Hackers Golf Group. He was also a member of St. Columba Catholic Church.

Boyd is survived by his wife Ruth Anderson Horn; their son Brien Fletcher Horn and his wife Kimberly; grandchildren, Brien Fletcher Horn, Jr., Clay Barclift Horn, Hunter Alexander Horn, and Robert Anderson Horn of Birmingham, AL; a sister Martha Horn Otts of Mobile, AL.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at St. Columba Catholic Church with the Reverend Patrick Gallagher officiating and Robert Byrd directing. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Resource Center, 1314 Westgate Pkwy, Suite 2, Dothan, AL, 36303.
