Bruce Stephen "Steve" Clay, a resident of Newton, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 68 years old. Graveside services with military honors will be held 10 am on Friday, September 4, 2020 at Sunset Memorial Park with a reception to follow at 516 Thunderbird Drive, Dothan Alabama 36301. Steve was born June 6, 1952 in Fort Benning, Georgia. He and his family later moved to Dothan where he graduated from Dothan High School, class of 1970. He then went to Auburn University and Georgia Tech and earned his degree in engineering. Steve enlisted with the United States Navy and served for 10 years before being honorably discharged as an Electrician's Mate Chief Petty Officer. He then became employed as a government contractor and worked several jobs that took him around the world with his last employer being Jacobs Engineering. Steve was known for being a hardworking and loving man. He enjoyed spending time with his family and fur babies. Steve will be dearly missed by all who new him. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin, and Johanna Clay. Survivors include his loving wife of 24 years, Glenda Justina "Tina" Clay; his son, Alex (Kathleen) Clay; his daughters, Jennifer (Justin) Kyser and Jenina Anderson (Jonathan Coradini); his two grandchildren, Taylor Kyser and Leah Clay; and his beloved pets, Ronin, Pearl, Rocket, and Khartua.
