Bruce Jernigan

Mr. Jeffery "Bruce" Jernigan, 54, of Dothan, AL passed away on Friday, June 3, 2016 at his residence. Mr. Jernigan was born on October 7, 1961 in Eufaula, AL to Gerald and Betty Jernigan.

After graduation from high school in Eufaula, AL, he attended Auburn University where he earned a BS in Public Administration in 1984. Bruce had a 15-year career with Movie Gallery and was instrumental in the growth of the company from the early days of the company until his departure to pursue his own business ventures. After leaving Movie Gallery, Bruce owned and operated several Palm Beach Tan locations throughout Alabama and Georgia. He opened Massage Envy in Dothan in 2011. Bruce was a member of Covenant United Methodist Church. He was a strong supporter of Auburn Football and loved to quail hunt.

Bruce is predeceased by his father, Gerald Jernigan. Survivors include his wife, Ivy Jernigan; his mother, Betty Jernigan; his brother, Steve Pat Jernigan; his nephews, Brian Pamela Jernigan, Chris Jernigan, and Tommy Katie Fruitticher; his niece, Sasha Fruitticher John Yodzis.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 5, 2016 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kyle Gatlin officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wiregrass Humane Society, P.O. Box 1045, Dothan, AL 36302.
