Carl Ronald Petersen

Carl Ronald "Ronnie" Petersen, 62, a resident of Jakin, GA and formerly of Slocomb, AL, passed away Sunday, December 22, 2013 at a Dothan hospital.

Funeral services will be 11 am Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Monday at the funeral home. Flowers are being accepted or memorial donations may be made to the Winn-Dixie Hope Lodge, 1552 Shoupe Court, Decatur, GA, 30033 or to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, 383 Main Ave., 5th Floor, Norwalk, CT, 06851.

Mr. Petersen was born September 16, 1951 in Toledo, Ohio and spent the early part of life there. He moved to Slocomb when he was 6 years old and been a resident of Jakin since 2005. He was employed with AAA Cooper where he retired as a Dock Supervisor in 2012. He loved fishing, boating and was an avid Alabama Football fan. Ronnie was also a beloved "PaPa" to his three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Carl Charles Petersen and Bonnie Shipes Fulford, one brother and three sisters.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years Evelyn Park Petersen; a son Chris Petersen Billie and a daughter Tara Still Adam; three grandchildren, C.J. Petersen, Colby Still and Gillian Still; brothers James Howell Occee and Durl Howell Janice; brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Joyce Park, Mack and Carolyn Burgess, Merylon and Billy Bagwell, Tommy Park, Mavis and Ronnie Mims, Shirley and Ronnie Taylor, Sylvia Richards and William and Rhonda Park; and numerous nieces and nephews.
