Carl Stubblefield, Jr., a resident of Newton, Alabama passed away on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at his residence. He was 72. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 20, 2018 at 11 am in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for 1 hour prior to the service. Carl was born on April 30, 1946 in Sneedville, TN and lived his early years in Morristown, TN where he was a 1965 graduate of Morristown East High School. After high school, he joined the US Army and spent a tour in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. Following his service, he attended Walter State Junior College and studied environmental science. In 1978, he moved to Dale County where he was employed with the Army Corps of Engineers. He was a motorcycle enthusiast and loved riding his bike every chance he got. Carl was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church and the Faith Riders. Carl was preceded in death by sister, Rita Stubblefield; brother, Terry Stubblefield; and nephews, Jonathan Miller and John Edward Miller. Survivors include his wife, Mary Anne Stubblefield; his son, Eric Paul Stubblefield; his brother, Clarence Stubblefield; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Barbara and E.C. Miller and Anita Raines; a special aunt, Cleo "Boots" Wallen; nieces and nephews, Kim Peeples, Lainie Stubblefield, Laura Beth Peters, Bryan Stubblefield and Charles Mills; and several cousins.
