Carol Lynn (Davidson) Holland

June 23, 1958 — August 15, 2023

Dothan

Carol Lynn Davidson Holland, known affectionately as Carol, passed away peacefully in her home in Dothan, Alabama on August 15, 2023. Born on June 23, 1958, in Mobile, Alabama, Carol was a woman of great strength, love, and passion, whose life was guided by her love for her family.

Carol was the beloved daughter of Al and Betty Gill Davidson, both of whom preceded her in death. She was a cherished sister to Steve (Donna) Davidson, Tracy (David) Hyche, and Brian (Ruthie) Davidson. Carol was also a loving mother to her children, Brandy (Maxie) McCall, Jeremy (Tisha) Bruner, Derek (Dawn) Bruner, Kim (Gabe) Adams, Jessica (Matt) Carson, and Mary-Louise (Tyson) McDaniel. She will be remembered as a doting grandmother to Christian (DeeDee) McCall, Jakob (Tarie) McCall, Hannah McCall, Sara (Bryson) Bruner, Aiden Bruner, Journey McCall, Octavious McCall, and Addilyn Hutcherson. Carol was preceded in death by her partner, Ken Holland, and her grandson, Caiden Bruner. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and her best friends, Janice Hudkins, and Georgiann Gentry.

Carol received her Associates Degree from Wallace Community College and was a lifelong learner, always interested in expanding her knowledge. She spent countless hours lost in books and loved to share her latest good read with friends and family. Carol also had a penchant for reality TV, often keeping up with the latest episodes of her favorite shows.

A lover of life's simple pleasures, Carol was known for her love of butterflies, a symbol of transformation and beauty that perfectly encapsulated her spirit. She found joy in the quiet moments, whether it was playing phone video games, coloring, or spending time with her loved ones. Despite her disdain for shopping, she always managed to find the perfect gifts for her family and friends, a testament to her thoughtfulness.

Family was the cornerstone of Carol's life, her love for them was as expansive as the Alabama sky under which she was born and raised. She was a steadfast presence in the lives of her children and grandchildren, always there to lend an ear, offer advice, or share a laugh. Her home was a haven, filled with warmth, love, and the delicious aroma of her home-cooked meals.

Those who knew Carol were touched by her loving and passionate nature. She had the unique ability to make everyone feel special and loved. Her compassion extended not only to her family and friends but to anyone who was fortunate enough to cross her path.

Carol's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved her. Yet, we find comfort in the memories of her laughter, her love for butterflies, the joy she found in simple pleasures, and her unwavering love for her family. Although we mourn her loss, we celebrate a life well-lived, honoring a woman whose love and passion touched us all.

Carol Lynn Davidson Holland will be greatly missed but never forgotten. Her spirit lives on in her children, grandchildren, siblings, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. We carry her legacy forward, inspired by her love, her passion, and her unwavering belief in the power of family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on August 26, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Westgate Church of Christ. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service. The family asks that friends wear Carols favorite color, blue, or anything with butterflies.
