Carol Wolfe Mcdoniel

Carol Wolfe McDoniel, a resident of Dothan, AL passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at her residence. She was 74 years old. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 3, 2020 at 2 pm in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will take place in Mount Lebanon Cemetery in Pittsburgh, PA. In lieu of flowers send donations to the Wiregrass Food Bank and the ASPCA in Carol's honor. Carol was born on June 22, 1946 in Pennsylvania and grew up in Pittsburgh. She was a 1964 graduate of Mount Lebanon High School where she played several different instruments, primarily the flute and the clarinet. Later, she enjoyed playing the guitar. Carol was a highly successful businesswoman in the manufacturing industry. She worked for PPG and then later with Digital Equipment Corporation in Puerto Rico. She lived in Puerto Rico for over 40 years and worked for NYPRO before moving to Dothan in 2009 where she continued to work for them until she retired at the age of 72. She met her husband in St. Thomas where he was an engineer building Crown Bay Marriot. Later the couple married and moved to Puerto Rico. Carol had a strong work ethic and always had encouraging words for her family and friends. She enjoyed music and encouraged her children to pursue their interests and be their own unique selves. Carol was courageous and adventurous, while living in the islands, she liked flying planes, sailing, and even ziplining and repelling in her mid 60's. She supported her children in all their school functions and was always their biggest cheerleader. Carol was a pillar of strength, funny and quirky. Carol volunteered at Flowers Hospital, First United Methodist Respite Care, and the Wiregrass Food Bank. She enjoyed spending time with her Aquacise Ladies and other friends in Dothan. Carol was a huge animal lover, especially cats, particularly her sweet boy Osirus. Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. McDoniel. Survivors include her son, Eric C. (Diane) McDoniel; her daughter, Larissa B. Ciuca (Alex) McDoniel; her step-son, Robert Neal (Debbie) McDoniel; her grandchildren, Luke McDoniel, Robert Dean McDoniel and James McDoniel; her brother, Richard (Linda) Wolfe; her sister, Melissa (Mike Cooper) Wolfe; her nieces, Victoria and Christina; and her grand nephews, Max, Thomas, and Calum. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 3, 2020 at 2 pm in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will take place in Mount Lebanon Cemetery in Pittsburgh, PA.
