Carolyn G. Mann

Carolyn G. Mann, a resident of Dothan, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 2, 2010 at her son’s residence with her family by her side. She was 71.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at Ridgecrest Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Spencer officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. Flowers are being accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2346 West Main Street, Suite 3, Dothan, AL 36303. The family will receive friends at Sunset Funeral Home from 6-8 pm on Tuesday. Mrs. Mann was born on October 1, 1938 in Pike County and lived the early years of her life in Troy. She graduated from Charles Henderson High School and went to nursing school in Nashville, TN where she received her degree. Mrs. Mann was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for several years. She was a member of the Margaret Kennedy Sunday School Class, which she loved so very much. Mrs. Mann worked at the Greyhound Bus Station for 25 years and Mann’s Automotive for more than 24 years. She was very committed to her children and grandchildren.Mrs. Mann was preceded in death by her husband, Foy G. Mann, Sr, who passed away in 1994, parents Robert O. and Idell L. Griggs, and her sister, Linda L. Allen.Survivors include her son, Foy G. Mann, Jr. and his wife Emily; her daughter, C. Marie Smith and her husband Anthony; her stepson, Terry G. Mann and his wife Kathy; her stepdaughter, Pam Brewster and her husband Sammy; her grandchildren, Trent and Maegon Smith, Foy G. Mann, III Trey, Paxton H. Smith, and Kelsey Mann; her sister, Dolly Norris and her husband Raymond; her 4 brothers, Oscar D. Griggs and his wife Kathy, Larry A. Griggs and his wife Glendora, Wade R. Griggs and his wife Cindy, and Robert O. Griggs, Jr. and his wife Renee; several nieces and nephews also survive. Burial Date: January 1, 1970
