Charles "Fig" Newton Amos, 66, of Dothan passed away Friday, May 16, 2014 at his residence.
Funeral services will be 2 pm Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home with Guy Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital c/o TKE Fraternity, 600 University Ave., Campus Box #821263, Troy, AL, 36082.
Mr. Amos was born November 18, 1947 in Hazelhurst, Mississippi. He graduated from Enterprise High School in 1966. He graduated from Troy State University earning his Batchelor's Degree and received his Masters from Auburn University Montgomery. Mr. Amos received his Law Degree from the Jones School of Law in 1982 and resided in Enterprise prior to moving to Dothan in 1987 where he was employed with the Houston County District Attorney's Office until his retirement in 1998.
Survivors include his wife Barbara Amos; daughters, Salem Yaun and Lynn James VanMeter; grandchildren, Jordyn Yaun, Melissa VanMeter, Victoria VanMeter, Alexandria VanMeter, and Stephen VanMeter.
Serving as pallbearers will be members of the Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity.
