Charles Hilda “Charlie” Capps, 96, of Dothan passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at Flowers Hospital.

rnFuneral services will be held 3 pm Sunday, May 8, 2011, at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Johnny Fain officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 pm until 3 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 300 West Main Street, Dothan, AL 36303. rnMrs. Capps was born April 26, 1915, in Hartford, Alabama, and she resided the early years of her life there. She married the late Charles Oscar Capps in 1935 and resided in Dothan for the past 76 years. Mrs. Capps loved beauty and beautifying things around her. She was a member of the First Baptist Church Dothan where she served many years on the decorating committee, was active with the WMU, and taught Sunday School. She was also a member of the Thursday Luncheon Club and the Dothan Study Club. rnSurvivors include her son Jerry Capps and his wife Catherine of Big Canoe, GA; granddaughters, Cameron Duree and her husband Jimmy of Chattanooga, TN and Mary Charles Pryor and her husband Keith of Cody, WY; 5 great-grandsons; a nephew Buddy Guilford and his wife Patricia; nieces, Evelyn Clouse and Helen Gatlin. The family would like to extend a special thank you to caretaker Linda Jackson for her loving care and support. rnServing as active pallbearers will be Bobby Bottoms, Jimmy Duree, Wayne Eidson, Buddy Guilford, Donald Hicks, Tom McClendon, and Don McMullan. Burial Date: January 1, 1970
