Charles Allen “Charlie” Hierman, a resident of Dothan, Alabama passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at his home. He was 81.
Family will receive friends at Triumphant Cross Lutheran Church from 10-11 on Tuesday November 14, 2017. Funeral services will follow at 11 am at Triumphant Cross Lutheran Church with Rev Liz Kocher and Rev. George Peelen officiating. Graveside services with military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Southern Care Hospice, 2570 Montgomery Highway #2, Dothan, AL 36303.
Mr. Hierman was born on August 15, 1936 in Arenzville, Illinois and lived most of his life there. He served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Forrestal and was Honorably discharged on October 13, 1959. Charles owned his own business, Hierman’s Service Station in Arenzville, Illinois, for over 20 years. He was a member of the American Legion in Arenzville, IL. Charles moved to Dothan, Alabama eleven years ago. He was a member of Triumphant Cross Lutheran Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Lydia Hierman; siblings, Imogene Haley, Frances Corlie, Flo Sargent and Gale Hierman; and his step-son, Allen D. Conway.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia J. Hierman; daughters, Sherry Rice and Jeannine Blackorby; step-daughters, Carol Young-Hiatt, Connie Leslie and Christine Johnson; 14 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Clarice Wunderlich.
