Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 1, 2021 at 2 pm at First United Methodist Church with Dr. James Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Slocomb, AL with Sunset Memorial Park Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends following the graveside services at the cemetery. The body will lie in state for one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Slocomb United Methodist Church, 102 North Dalton Street, Slocomb, AL 36375.
Charles was born on October 18, 1929 in Florala, AL and lived his early years in Slocomb. He was graduate of Slocomb High School and attended Auburn University and Troy University. At 12 years old, he started his first job with Dalton Drug Company in Slocomb. In 1950 he moved to Ashford where he operated the Farmers Gin Company for 20 years. Later, Charles owned and operated Charles Weeks Trucking Company until 1975 when he began to farm. In 1994, he started the Wiregrass Gin Company in Taylor, AL where he served as President and manager. In the 1980's he was elected and served two terms as a Houston County Commissioner. Charles was on the Board, served on several committees and was a member of Lafayette Street United Methodist Church. He had a heart for service and participated in a mission's trip to Honduras in 1975. Later, he became a member of First United Methodist Church. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette J. Weeks.
Survivors include his children, Charles S. (Kimberly) Weeks, Jr., Sally Weeks and Kay (Lamar) Ivey; his grandchildren, Jamar (Allison) Ivey, Gage Weeks and Charles S. Weeks, III; his great-granddaughter, Amelia Ivey; and his cousin, Jere (Rena) Segrest.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Normbrekea "Bre" Stoudimire and the healthcare workers who took care of Charles during his time of need.
