Charlie Elmore Bedwell

March 4, 1947 — March 23, 2016

Charles “Charlie” Elmore Bedwell, 69, of Dothan died Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at a local hospital.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Travis Free officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 5-7:00 p.m.

Mr. Bedwell was born March 4, 1947 in Monroeville, Alabama and lived in Coffeeville in his earlier years. He was a 1967 graduate of Leroy High School, where he played football, basketball, and was on the track team. Charlie was employed with Teledyne Continental Motors where he was a supervisor for several years until his retirement in 1994. He later managed rental properties in the Dothan area where he has resided since 1984. He enjoyed Tennessee walking horses, Alabama football, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his grandchildren. He attended Rehobeth Baptist Church.

Mr. Bedwell was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Linda Bedwell, his parents, Elmore and Bardee Bedwell, his daughter, Melody Googe, his sister, Velma Woodard, and his brother, Monroe Bedwell.

Survivors include his children Lynn Matt Owens, Paul Kari McLean, Ricky Kimberly Bedwell, and Joshua Michelle Bedwell; his grandchildren, Taylor, Dylan, and Dustin Owens and Morgan, John Dalton, Madison and Regan McLean, Jacob and Jamie Bedwell and Alexander and Ava Bedwell; sister, Minnie Aulden Sumrall; brothers, Herman Martha Bedwell, Leroy Brenda Bedwell and Leroy Elmore Edna Bedwell, Jr.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Paul McLean, Matt Owens, Dan Weatherhult, Brandon Casper, Horace Lisenby, Jacob Sellers, and Eric Pettis
