Dothan, AL

Charlyne Bernadine Hill Singley, a child of God, recently passed away on April 23, 2025, and is now resting in the arms of our Lord. Born in Madison, Wisconsin, on April 2, 1936, Charlyne was the cherished daughter of Edwin J.W. Hill Sr. and Charlyne Sr. She grew up in a bustling household that would eventually welcome nine children, providing a warm and nurturing environment where Charlyne's caring nature was cultivated.

Charlyne, affectionately known as Snookie, embarked on a career in nursing after completing her studies. Her healing touch and compassionate care were felt by many during her time at various hospitals in Madison before she relocated to Pasadena, California. There, Charlyne's leadership qualities shone brightly as she served as a director of nursing. Upon retiring from the medical field, she continued to contribute her talents and work ethic to Bank of America's credit department.

The love for her family led Charlyne to move to Dothan, Alabama, where she spent her later years close to her two sons, Kevin and Tristan. Charlyne's life was a testament to kindness and love. She was a beacon of joy and warmth, with a beautiful smile, a cheerful laugh, and a sparkling personality that drew people to her. Her compassion knew no bounds, and she was always ready to extend a helping hand to both family and friends. Charlyne's presence was a gift, and she had the unique ability to make everyone feel valued and special. Her warmth and kindness turned strangers into friends wherever life took her.

Charlyne's memory will be treasured and deeply missed. Her legacy is one of unwavering care and love, sending messages filled with affection and always reminding us of our worth. She was a special soul whose goodness and compassion surely did not go unnoticed by God, as evidenced by the many lives she touched and the difference she made in the world.

Charlyne Bernadine Singley is survived by a loving family who will forever hold her in their hearts. Her sons, Wesley Kevin Grider Sr. and Tristan Singley, both of Dothan, Alabama, carry on her spirit of love and devotion. Her legacy also lives on through her grandchildren: Selah Singley of Pasadena, California; Caleb Singley of Dothan, Alabama; and Wesley K. Grider, Jr. of Pasadena, California. Charlyne's sisters, Beverley Holmes (Albert) of Madison, Wisconsin; Colenthia Hunter of Cincinnati, Ohio; Evelyn Ashkenaz (Joe) of Louisville, Kentucky; Bernetta Stephens of Slocomb, Alabama; Elaine Browder of Waukegan, Illinois; and Diane Vann of Hyattsville, Maryland, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Preceding Charlyne in death were her father, Edwin Hill Sr.; her mother, Charlyne Hill; her brother, Edwin Hill Jr.; her sister, Freddie Mae Hill; and her niece, Rochelle Hill; and nephew, Wallace Stuart.

As we bid farewell to Charlyne Bernadine Hill Singley, we celebrate a life lived with love at its core.
