It is with heavy hearts that the family of (CW3) Morris Christopher "Chris" Proper wish to announce his passing on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at his residence following an extended illness. He was 72 years old.
A celebration of Chris' life will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Goldsmith officiating. Military Honors will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Pavilion. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1-2 pm.
Chris was born on June 6, 1950 in Alexandria City, New York to the late Roland and Dorothy Weber Proper. At a young age, Chris moved to Pensacola, Florida where he graduated from Escambia County High School. Chris was drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam War and served honorably as a pilot. He was stationed in Germany for several years before accepting a job at Ft. Rucker where he trained and instructed thousands of young Armed Forces Pilots for over 40 years. Chris enjoyed playing golf and was a huge admirer of the sport and also enjoyed watching college football.
Chris was preceded in death by his parents and by his siblings, Ronald Proper and Kathy Visser.
Survivors include his wife of 11 years, Diane Proper; his children, Noel (Annet) Proper and Brittney (Mike) Evans; his granddaughter, Shelby Evans; his niece, Angie Ferraro; and his brother-in-law, John Visser.
