Christopher Jones

Christopher Savoy Jones of Dothan, Alabama passed away on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at Flowers Hospital. He was 15 years old.

Going home services will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, February 10, 2013 at Ridgecrest Baptist Church with Rev. Lloyd S. Dillard officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-9 pm Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home. Flowers are being accepted or memorial donations may be made to Emmanuel Christian School, 178 Earline Road, Dothan, AL, 36305.

Savoy was born June 11, 1997 in Hopewell, Virginia to Christopher and Sophia Jones. The family relocated to Alabama in 1999. Savoy attended Emmanuel Christian School from K-3 until his passing. He played baseball, basketball, and was exploring an interest in golf over the past three years. Savoy was an avid athlete, excelling in both baseball & basketball. Playing in both his school sports programs, as well as independent travel leagues, Savoy always brought his competitive spirit to the game. He also had a passion for the game of golf, and anything outdoors. He reveled in time spent on his 4-wheeler, exploring and racing in the woods. Most importantly, almost all of Savoy’s activities included his loving family. He was sincerely appreciative and proud to have his family with him, whether in a team setting, with friends, or time spent alone together. Family meant the world to Savoy, as he knew his biggest cheerleaders, in sports and in life, were his parents, sister & grandmother. His father Chris aka “Chief” as Savoy would call him was his side-kick, coach, mentor and loving leader. His mother Sophia was his rock, his counselor, consoler, admirer and biggest fan. His sister Christina was his joy, sharing a bond beyond measure, knowing they could always turn to each other. Grandmother Pearl was the light of his life, always supportive & loving. The Jones home was filled with love for each other, and Savoy shared his loving nature with everyone he met. With an infectious smile, and southern drawl, Savoy made friends wherever he went, and had a special place in his heart for extended ECS family.

Savoy was preceded in death by both of his grandfather's, his grandmother, two aunt's, a great aunt, and a cousin.

Survivors include his parents, Christopher and Sophia Jones  of Dothan, AL; sister, Christina Jones of Tallahassee, FL; brother-in-law Marquis Johnson of Tallahassee, FL; grandmother, Pearl Prater of Ozark, AL; niece, Phoenix Vi Jones of Tallahassee, FL; aunts, Mary Swann and Lisa Jones-Lewis; uncles, Lester Jones, Charles Prater; a special cousin Logan Jones; several other family members, friends and teammates also survive.
